University of Central Florida

UCF-logo-dark

With an NCLEX pass rate of 96.64% in 2019, as well a 92 percent rate of graduates staying in Florida after they complete their degrees, there’s no denying the University of Central Florida’s positive impact on the state’s nursing profession. This is not surprising: Since the UCF College of Nursing admitted its first 50 students in 1979, the school has celebrated several accomplishments—including adding several programs on both the graduate and undergraduate levels, enhancing these programs by providing a community-based curriculum through partnerships with community agencies that provide care to those in the state who need it most, and opening skills laboratories that allow students access to the latest diagnostic and monitoring equipment.

When students enroll in the online RN to BSN program at UCF, they get the advantages of this top-notch school along with a curriculum that emphasizes advanced-level skills such as leadership, assessment, mental health nursing, and adult care abilities. This 30-credit program can be completed in a year and a half when students take classes full time.

University of South Florida

South Florida

Part of USF Health, the University of South Florida’s College of Nursing has around 12,500 alumni—many of which have remained in the Tampa Bay area—who have gone on to work in the community providing clinical care, conducting nursing research, and educating the next generation of nurses. In order to ensure that these graduates are able to excel in the field after completing their degrees, the school has established relationships with over 1,000 clinical partners , which has allowed nursing students to complete more than 110,000 clinical hours annually. This investment has paid off, as USF boasts an NCLEX pass rate of 94.04 percent in 2019.

Students in the RN to BSN program get the opportunity to tailor their coursework based on their interests because of the school’s four clusters: leadership/management, patient/staff education, clinical excellence, and ambulatory care. As a result, whether students are interested in learning about healthcare quality improvement and patient safety; simulation for nursing practice; providing quality care in vulnerable populations based on clinical, legal, and ethical standards; or care in ambulatory facilities, they can get the skills and knowledge they need to pursue their professional goals.

FAQs About RN to BSN Online Florida Programs

Can I earn my RN to BSN degree in Florida 100% online?

Each program has its own requirements regarding how much coursework students can take online. For example, the University of Florida’s College of Nursing has an RN to BSN program that allows you to take all of your classes online, however, the school does require that you participate in two courses, health assessment and public health, which have clinical components that must be completed at health care facilities in the community in tandem with your online activities. Similarly, Florida International University’s RN to BSN curriculum is almost entirely completed online, but nurses must participate in a practicum that combines an online theoretical component with clinical hours completed in a health care setting.

Nursing schools in Florida provide an economical education option for students in online RN to BSN programs.
