Scholarships and Grants for Medical Assistant Students
With a projected job growth of 12% across the nation (through 2034), the medical assisting field is booming. The number of certified medical assistant programs, both online and in-person, has increased as well.
As a result, the availability of financial aid resources focused on medical assistant education has also substantially grown. And that includes more scholarships.
Scholarships are particularly popular with students since they’re not paid back, making them “free money” for their educations. That popularity, however, also means that the competition for scholarship awards is high.
Keep all of this in mind as you explore our list of some of today’s best scholarships for medical assistant students. Be sure to carefully review all eligibility and application requirements in detail to determine which ones may be right for you.

The Keys to Succeed on Medical Assistant Scholarship Applications
Even if you are seeking out more affordable programs for your medical assistant education, you’ll probably still want (or need) to go for one or more scholarships. Here are five helpful tips you can follow to help you in landing the ones you’re after:
Key #1: Go for Niche Awards
While the big-ticket national scholarships are great, don’t overlook the smaller ones. Smaller scholarships with smaller awards typically come with less competition, meaning the odds of winning them are higher.
And winning several smaller awards can really add up to something big.
Key #2: Don’t Shy Away From Your Accomplishments
Scholarship selection committees want to know what makes you special, and that includes your accomplishments. So, don’t hesitate to share them.
Be specific about any and all volunteer work and community activities you’ve participated in. And describe how your personal and professional experiences have helped define who you are and what you wish to accomplish in the future.
Key #3: Write a Strong Essay
Your application essay or personal statement offers you the best opportunity to stand out from the competition and really impress a scholarship selection committee. So, always take the time and make the effort to produce the very best statement/essay you possibly can.
Remember to follow the directions exactly and focus on telling a story that is memorable and unique. And be sure to highlight any specific personal experiences and essential skills you have that tie you to this scholarship specifically and/or the medical assisting profession in general.
Key #4: Stay on Top of Deadlines
Even if you meet every scholarship application requirement in stellar fashion, if you miss a submittal deadline, you’re sunk. So, be sure to calendar each and every scholarship-related deadline ASAP, and check them regularly to make sure you don’t miss a single one.
Key #5: Keep Trying
Don’t be discouraged if you fail to land a specific scholarship you really want. There are plenty of others out there with deadlines throughout the year.
And some scholarships even encourage you to re-apply in subsequent scholarship rounds. The point here is: Don’t give up!
